BAJA SHARKEEZ

Sharkeez is the creation of Ron Newman – founder of the red onion chain of casual restaurants that flourished in the 1970s and ‘80 s- and his son Greg. After Greg graduated from USC, Ron offered him $100,000 to start his own place.

​

Soon thereafter, the Newman’s decided to start a new enterprise as a team. They believed that their partnership would be a good fit combining the senior’s experience and expertise with the junior’s young, fresh ideas and understanding of the younger demographic and connections within the college and beach communities.

​

They traveled around together to Arizona, Texas and Mexico to research other restaurant and nightclub concepts and settled on a casual but cool concept.

​

With the success of their first venture, four other successes followed, all in keeping with their beach cantina and restaurant concept: Newport Beach, Hermosa Beach, Santa Barbara and Huntington Beach. The Newman growth by expansion plan is a clear vision which all of his partners and associates understand.

BEACH PIZZA​

For over 30 years Beach Pizza has been serving delicious pizza and great food in Manhattan Beach. We are located just a frisbee throw away from the surf in L.A.'s South Bay area. We are popular with both locals and tourists, so much so the "Entertainment guide" subscribers voted Beach Pizza best pizza in the greater Los Angeles/South Bay area. "Pizza today", an international trade magazine, listed Beach Pizza in its hot 100 pizzerias in the U.S.! But don't take their word for it ... come in and eat it for yourselves.

Fresh ingredients and a unique and innovative menu are some of the best reasons for beach pizza's great taste. You want shrimp on your pizza? Got it! You want eggplant? You'll get it! Be creative! We also make our dough fresh every single day to create delicious, crispy, New York style, thick crusts or the truly traditional thin Italian style. We use the freshest high-quality cheeses and toppings, and use 100% whole milk mozzarella. We also have vegetarian and low-fat pizzas, appetizers, pastas and salads to round out our menu.

Beach Pizza bakes everything on the menu including our awesome chicken wings and mozzarella sticks. We took our deep fat fryer, thanked it ... Then threw it out the window to be recycled. We believe food should be fun and as fat free as possible.

The story of El Tarasco begins with an elopement back in the early 1960’s in the Mexican state of Michoacan.  Despite the wishes of her family a young woman named Celia saw something special in a poo but industrious Moises Palomo and married him.  Moises worked hard picking strawberries, avocados, or whatever need to be harvested, until he was able to send for his wife.  When Celia arrived, she began working at a factory while Moises worked a number of jobs. 

Moises and his wife had saved up enough money over time to buy a little house, but decided to buy a restaurant, despite everyone telling them it would be a bad idea.  They stayed in their one-bedroom apartment and invested the money in a small restaurant (nothing more than a grill and counter).  This all happened in 1969, but that first restaurant is the very same El Tarasco still standing on Rosecrans Ave in Manhattan Beach. 

Little by little, Celia (who did the cooking) added to the menu.  The success of the little restaurant was in large part due to the location, location, location.  El Tarasco provided a place where people could go and get filled up for a reasonable price.  The second El Tarasco opened up 8 years later in El Segundo.  There are now 12 locations: 1 in far way Michoacan and 11 in Southern California, including Redondo Beach and Lomita. 

The item which first distinguished El Tarasco from other restaurants, and really made a name for them, is the J. Super Deluxe Burrito.  The burrito was created by Moises daughter around 1970.  She walked into the kitchen one day with the intention of creating her own burrito. When she finished, her father asked for a bite.  He said, “You know what, you’ve got something there.  Let’s put that on the menu!”  It took off from there and is today the most popular plate.

Founded in 2011 by two Kiwi’s who wanted to bring what they loved about New Zealand’s coffee culture to the South Bay of Los Angeles.  The team at Two Guns are passionate about friendly service, delicious coffee and great food.

Two Guns serve their own premium espresso, a two-bean blend developed with Dillanos Coffee Roasters. Expect dark chocolate sweetness with candied pecan and hints of dried fruit.

Pastries are baked in-house and fresh bread is delivered daily.  We proudly serve STRAUSS organic milk, grass-fed butter and sustainably farmed ORA KING salmon from New Zealand, nitrate-free bacon and local free-range eggs. Our History

Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant is an established name in Southern California, and one of the oldest and best known landmarks in the Los Angeles area.

Owned by the Sampson family starting in 1945, the property came under the ownership of current owner E. Abbott Lawrence and his family in May 1976. Since then, Lawrence has created a thriving business in the Manhattan Beach location.

Following the success of the Manhattan Beach restaurant, Lawrence expanded the family-owned business to Las Vegas. Pancho’s opened in the Downtown Summerlin shopping center in September 2015.
